Dark rooms and screaming kids.

My sister's sixth birthday party is still ringing in my ears. Dad hired out the local scout hut, an entertainer and bought some cake. Add in flashing disco lights, about 20 five year olds and one helluva lot of noise and you pretty much have Lily's birthday down pat. As I was Lily's sister, everyone knew me (Lily has apparently taken to telling the junior school kids at her school, 'my big sister's bigger than you' - I went with my stepmum to pick her up once and when I was with her, all the junior school kids who walked past looked at her, then gave me a kind of awed look). Me being over twice their age and probably more flexible than most of them, I wasn't allowed to wipe the floor with them at musical statues. But I did make myself nearly win, only losing out by an unfortunate 'accidental' balance issue where I somehow managed to throw myself on the floor and roll about a metre left. I had to do pretty much the same sort of thing for musical bums. Ashamedly, I have to admit, I didn't do too well when I challenged them to a game of tiggy scarecrow though. Ah well. I'll get them back one day.

  1. Just remember, a gaggle of 6 year olds full of party additives can be quite a fearsome combination...
